MARILYN MONROES ESTATE. In October 2007, the Strasberg Family, heirs to Marilyn Monroe's personal effects, hired Dr. Oliva to assist them in finding a permanent home for Ms. Monroe's papers and personal effects, assisted them in the possibility of creating a Marilyn Monroe Retrospective Museum Exhibit, and researching the possibility of an academic scholarship in the star's name. Dr. Oliva presented options to the family for these three projects.
MRS. ROBERT F. KENNEDY. Sioux worked as a Project Historian for Mrs. Robert F. Kennedy. The project involved the family home, the historic Hickory Hill estate in McLean, Virginia. Dr. Oliva was invited to live with Mrs. Kennedy while she organized the assets, which involved creating an inventory of the contents of the 21-room mansion. Sioux's responsibilities ranged from gathering all the family photos, documents, memorabilia, and files, to ensuring that the items were archived properly. Mrs. Kennedy granted sole access to Dr. Oliva to go through her personal files. In addition, Dr. Oliva worked with the National Archives, John F. Kennedy Library, and the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial to gather their inventory lists to prepare a final two-volume report for Mrs. Kennedy.
SALLY QUINN AND BEN BRADLEE. Sally Quinn and her husband, Ben Bradlee purchased the historic Grey Gardens in East Hampton in 1979. Previously Grey Gardens had been the home of Jackie Kennedy’s eccentric aunt and first cousin, Big and Little Edie Beale. Grey Gardens has been featured in three documentaries and was the subject of a Tony Nominated Broadway musical. After purchasing the estate, Ms. Quinn discovered a suitcase full of thousands of letters and other documents in the attic, dating from the late 1880s to the mid 1900s. Sioux was hired to organize the letters, research the history, and create a historic timeline of the property and the Beale Family. There were 4,500 documents resulting in 23 volumes of documents.
THE LEE STRASBERG FAMILY. One of Sioux’s specialties is helping families create a plan for their collections. She engaged her clients in a series of conversations to define their goals and intentions. The result with Anna Strasberg, widow of the legendary acting teacher, Lee Strasberg, was a plan that involved the disposition of her husband’s work as director of the Actor’s Studio, his personal writings, his extensive theatre costume collection, and documents from the Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute.
